Inter-caste marriage Schemes – Government Initiatives

We often heard of news on inter-caste marriage which still is a taboo to some restricted communities in India.A marriage between a couple belonging to different castes.Mostly one of the spouses belongs to the Dalit community and the other belongs to a higher caste of the social caste system.

Schemes and provisions

The central government provides special provisions and schemes under the Protection of Civil Rights Act (PCR) and Preventions of Atrocities Act (POA). In addition, the government further provide incentives as an aid to the eligible newly married couple.Under the Dr.Ambedkar Scheme for Social Integration through Inter-caste Marriages and the eligible couple can claim the said provisions of the government.

Furthermore,the application must be under the discretion and approval of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.The Chairman of Dr.Ambedkar Foundation.Also,fraud of fabricated information by the applicants is punishable by the authority as per law in force.

Features and guidelines:

Under the ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment and the chairman of Dr.Ambedkar Foundation, the scheme grant the following prerequisites:

It grants financial assistance to the eligible couple an amount of Rs. 30,000/- through a one-time window period. Meanwhile, on the receiving end, the couple requires consent from the Local Self Government Department (LSGD).

– The couple can invest the amount in different purposes.Such as,to start a business, to construct a house, to purchase land.

Degree of incentive

For a lawful caste marriage,the scheme grants Rs 2.5 lakh per couple.The couple will receive half the amount in the form of DD and the rest will be given after 5 years from the day of the marriage.

500 such eligible couples can avail of this scheme.As per the census 2011, the Supreme Court offers the rate of the physical focus of the population of each state.

Eligibility Criteria

As per the ‘Inter-caste Marriage Scheme 2018’, certain guidelines are as follows:

– Both the couple must not be a divorcee.

– One of the couples must be from the Dalit community.

– The Marriage must be registered under the Hindu Marriage Act.

– The required documents must be provided to the concerned authorities.

– The annual income of both the couple must not exceed Rs.5 lakhs.

Documents required

1. Ration card, Voter ID, Aadhaar card.

2- Salary Certificate of the couple in original.

3- Inter-caste Marriage endorsement certificate issued by Sub Registrar’s Office or Panchayat President and declaration issued by the NSS (National Service Scheme) or SND.

4. Caste endorsement of both couples.

5. Declaration of recent married couple by Gazetted Officer, MLA, and MP of the concerned state or territory.

Finally, the scheme benefits the minor social group of the inter-caste populace.It further helps to eliminate caste discrimination.Also,the financial aid to the couple will enhance the living standard and acceptance in society.Subsequently, it spread the message of equality and tolerance amongst various communities.
